Basement Conversion Quote Calculator

This is a live, working example of the instant-quote tools we build for basement specialists. Try it exactly as a homeowner would: choose the scope, size the floor area and pick what the room is for, get a realistic price range with waterproofing broken out on its own line, and see how the enquiry lands with the business before anyone has been down to look at the footings. It sits alongside our Hartwell extension calculator and our Skyline loft conversion calculator as the third way a household finds extra floor space: those two go out and up, this one goes down.

Working example. "DeepHouse Basements" is a fictional business and the rates inside are illustrative. When we build yours, it carries your branding, your prices and your rules, and every quote is emailed to you as a lead.

15m² is roughly a utility or plant room, 25m² one big room, 40m² a full footprint conversion under the house.

Your estimate
£33,000 – £51,000

Tanking and waterproofing is priced on its own line below, since it is the part of a basement conversion that everything else depends on. A firm price follows a survey of the walls, the water table and the floor level.

Request a firm quotation & arrange a visit/call

Leave your details and DeepHouse Basements will arrange a survey to confirm the price, usually within a few days.

Instant quotes for your customers, at a glance

A serious number for a serious job

Homeowners choose the scope, the floor area and the room use and see a realistic range for what is usually a five or six-figure project.

Waterproofing broken out, not buried

Tanking and waterproofing gets its own line every time, since it is the part of the job the rest of the conversion depends on.

Your rates per square metre

Rates for a cellar upgrade, a full dig-out and underpin, and every room use and extra, are yours, set once and changed whenever you like.

Leads arrive already scoped

Every enquiry reaches you with the scope, the floor area, the room use and any extras already attached, before a survey is booked.

Budget mismatches sorted before the site visit

A dig-out and underpin job priced honestly rules out the homeowners who were picturing a cellar tidy-up, and the reverse.

Party wall and access flagged early

A shared-wall property gets an honest note about the party wall agreement it will likely need, so nobody is surprised by it later.

How this estimate is put together

The demo prices a basement from its floor area and its scope, the way most basement specialists do their own first pass: a rate per square metre for upgrading an existing cellar, which already has walls, a floor and headroom of a kind, and a much higher rate per square metre for a full dig-out and underpin, which lowers the floor, underpins the existing footings piece by piece and effectively builds a new structural box beneath the house. Tanking and waterproofing is then pulled out of that figure and shown as its own line, since it is the one part of the job that cannot be value-engineered away: get it wrong and every other finish in the room fails with it. Cinema, gym, bedroom and kitchen fit-outs each carry their own addition on top, an ensuite bathroom and a dug-and-glazed lightwell for natural light are priced as their own lines when chosen, and a shared-wall property gets an honest note that a party wall agreement will likely be needed before work near the boundary can start. None of these numbers is special: when we build a calculator for a real basement specialist, the rates, the ranges, the questions and the rules are all theirs, entered once and changed whenever they like.

The point is not the arithmetic, which is deliberately simple. It is that the homeowner gets an honest, unhurried range before anyone has been down to look at the footings, and the specialist gets a lead that already contains the scope, the floor area, the intended use and the extras the household wants. The survey that follows starts from "here is what we need to check" rather than a nervous guess at a number nobody has said out loud yet.

Why qualification matters most on the biggest-ticket jobs

A basement conversion sits at the expensive end of what a household will ever spend on their home, and a plain contact form leaves that number completely unspoken until a specialist has already driven out, surveyed the property and written a proposal. For a job that can run from thirty thousand pounds to well over a hundred, that is an expensive way to find out a homeowner was picturing a tenth of the true cost. An instant range, shown before anyone books a survey, does the qualifying up front: the household that was hoping to tidy up a cellar for a few thousand pounds rules itself out the moment it sees a dig-out and underpin range, and the household that genuinely wants a new floor of living space arrives at the survey already understanding roughly what it is buying. Every hour a specialist spends on site after that goes into a proposal for a customer who was never going to be surprised by the number at the end of it.
