Wegovy & Ozempic Click Calculator

A click on a Wegovy or Ozempic FlexTouch pen moves about 0.01 mL of liquid, but how much semaglutide that liquid holds depends on the pen, from 0.68 to 3.2 mg in every millilitre. Pick the exact pen you have to see the clicks and volume for a dose, taken from the figures in its UK leaflet, and how much the pen has left.

Two pens can share a dose strength but not a concentration, so check the mL figure as well as the mg.

The dose

In milligrams. The slider runs up to this pen's labelled dose, the most it can give in one injection.

A click is a volume, not a dose

Wegovy and Ozempic both come in Novo Nordisk FlexTouch pens. Turning the dose selector winds an internal mechanism round in small fixed steps, and every step clicks. Counted on the pens, a full dose of 0.74 or 0.75 mL takes 74 to 75 clicks, which puts one click at about 0.01 mL. The manufacturer does not publish a click count or suggest counting: the dose counter in the window is the validated way to set a dose. The click figures here and on every other click chart come from that 0.01 mL relationship.

The catch is that 0.01 mL is only a volume. The medicine inside it depends on the concentration of the pen, and across the UK range that runs from 0.68 mg/mL to 3.2 mg/mL, almost a fivefold spread. One click on a Wegovy 0.25 mg pen holds less than 0.007 mg of semaglutide; one click on a Wegovy 2.4 mg pen holds 0.032 mg. A click count that does not name the exact pen tells you nothing.

How the calculator works it out

Every pen's leaflet gives the volume of one labelled dose. Multiply that by 100 and you have the clicks in a full dose. Any other dose on the same pen is a straight proportion of it:

Full-dose clicks = dose volume (mL) × 100 Clicks = your dose ÷ labelled dose × full-dose clicks Each click holds = labelled dose ÷ full-dose clicks

Take half a dose on the Wegovy 1 mg pen: the leaflet dose is 1 mg in 0.75 mL, so a full dose is 75 clicks, and 0.5 mg is 0.5 ÷ 1 × 75 = 37.5 clicks. The selector only stops on whole clicks, so the answer is 37 or 38, and the calculator shows the milligrams the rounded number really contains.

Every UK pen, with its full-dose clicks

These are the presentations in the UK product information. The mg/mL figures are the ones printed in each leaflet, which are rounded, so the full-dose clicks follow the leaflet's own dose volume rather than dividing the rounded concentration.

Two pairs deserve a second look. Wegovy 0.5 mg and Ozempic 0.5 mg are each made in a 1.5 mL pen at 1.34 mg/mL and a 3 mL pen at 0.68 mg/mL, so the same 0.5 mg dose is about 37 clicks on one and about 75 on the other. Ozempic 1 mg also comes in two versions: the 4 mg pen gives four doses of 0.74 mL, while the 8 mg pen is twice as concentrated and gives eight doses of 0.37 mL. The box tells you which you have.

What the pen will and will not do

These are fixed-dose pens. The selector turns until the counter shows the pen's one labelled dose and then stops, so there is no way to dial more than that in a single injection: a 1 mg pen cannot give 1.7 mg, however it is turned. Stopping short of the full dose is physically possible, and it is what click counting depends on, but it is off-label, and the manufacturer has not tested how accurate a part-dose is. Your dose is set by your prescriber.

Each new pen needs one flow check before its first injection: dial to the flow-check symbol and press until a drop shows at the needle tip. If no drop appears, the leaflet has you repeat the check, up to six times, and then change the needle and try once more. That solution comes from spare fill that is not part of the labelled doses. The same spare fill is why liquid can still be visible after the last dose. The leaflets say plainly that it is not enough for another dose and the pen should be thrown away.

Doses, schedules and licences

  • Wegovy is licensed for weight management. The usual plan climbs every four weeks through 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 1.7 mg to a 2.4 mg weekly maintenance dose.
  • Wegovy 7.2 mg joined the UK licence in 2026 for some adults with obesity, after at least four weeks on 2.4 mg. It is not a FlexTouch dose you can dial: it was first given as three 2.4 mg injections, and a separate single-dose 7.2 mg pen was approved by the MHRA in April 2026.
  • Ozempic is licensed in the UK for type 2 diabetes. It starts at 0.25 mg weekly for four weeks, then 0.5 mg, with rises to 1 mg and then 2 mg each after at least four weeks. Weekly doses above 2 mg are not recommended, and using Ozempic for weight loss alone is off-label.

If you have come here from a Mounjaro pen, the maths is different: the KwikPen gives 0.6 mL doses at 60 clicks on every strength. The Mounjaro Click Calculator handles that pen, and the Calorie Deficit Calculator and Protein Calculator cover the eating side, where holding protein up matters while appetite is low.

Questions people ask

How many clicks is 0.25 mg of Wegovy?

On the Wegovy 0.25 mg pen, the leaflet dose is 0.25 mg in 0.37 mL, so a full dose is about 37 clicks. On any stronger pen the same 0.25 mg takes far fewer clicks: about 19 on the Wegovy 1 mg pen, and about 8 on the 2.4 mg pen.

How many clicks is 0.5 mg on a Wegovy or Ozempic pen?

It depends on which 0.5 mg pen you have. The 1.5 mL pen at 1.34 mg/mL gives 0.5 mg in 0.37 mL, about 37 clicks. The 3 mL pen at 0.68 mg/mL gives it in 0.75 mL on Wegovy and 0.74 mL on Ozempic, about 74 to 75 clicks.

How much semaglutide is in one click?

About 0.01 mL of liquid, so it depends on the concentration: roughly 0.0068 mg on the 0.68 mg/mL pens, 0.0135 mg on the 1.34 mg/mL pens, 0.027 mg on the 2.68 mg/mL Ozempic pens and 0.032 mg on the Wegovy 2.4 mg pen.

How many doses does each pen hold?

Four weekly doses at the labelled strength, with one exception: the Ozempic 1 mg pen that contains 8 mg gives eight. Liquid you can still see after the last dose is spare fill, and the leaflets say to dispose of the pen.

Does the flow check use up a dose?

No. It draws on spare fill that is not part of the labelled doses, and it is only done before the first injection from a new pen. If it takes several attempts, that still comes out of the spare, but a stubborn flow check with no drop means changing the needle as the leaflet describes.

Can I use this for a Mounjaro pen?

No. Mounjaro uses a different pen with a 0.6 mL dose and 60 clicks on every strength. Use the Mounjaro Click Calculator for that.

An educational reference, not medical advice. Wegovy and Ozempic are prescription-only medicines: take the dose your prescriber gives you, set it with the dose counter as your leaflet describes, and if a figure here ever disagrees with your leaflet, the leaflet is right.
