Built as a joinery list, not one guess
Homeowners tick off doors, skirting, shelves, a handrail refresh and a wardrobe exactly as they would write the list themselves.
Every job priced on its own line
Doors hung, skirting per room and floating shelves each carry their own rate, added up in front of the customer as the count changes.
The day-rate comparison, shown openly
The widget totals the small jobs and works out whether they come in cheaper priced one by one or booked at True Grain’s day rate, and says which won.
A wardrobe never hides inside a day rate
A built-in wardrobe is a job of its own, priced by width and quoted on top, never squeezed into a flat day-rate figure meant for quick jobs.
Your rates, your day rate, your wardrobe bands
Door, skirting, shelf and wardrobe rates, plus the day rate itself, are entered once and stay yours to change.
Leads arrive as a finished job list
Every enquiry lands with the exact jobs picked and whether they were quoted itemised or at the day rate, before you call back.

The demo prices the visit the way a jobbing carpenter actually totals a scattered list: a door hung, a room of skirting replaced, a shelf floated on the wall, a stair handrail and spindles given a refresh, a loft hatch fitted, each counted with its own stepper or switch rather than folded into one vague "bit of carpentry" figure. Every job on the list carries its own time on site, and True Grain's engine adds that time up, prices the list job by job, then checks it against the alternative most carpenters actually think in, is this really worth itemising or would it just be quicker and fairer to book the day. It quotes whichever of the two comes out cheaper and says plainly which one won, rather than always defaulting to the bigger number. A built-in wardrobe sits outside that comparison entirely: fitting one properly, carcass, doors and finish, is rarely a single visit, so it is priced by width on its own and simply added to whichever the smaller jobs come to. None of these numbers is special: when we build a calculator for a real carpentry business, the time per job, the day rate and the wardrobe bands are all theirs, entered once and changed whenever they like.
The point is not the arithmetic, which is deliberately simple. It is that the homeowner gets an honest, itemised range in under a minute for exactly the jobs on their list, worked out against the fairer of two ways to price it, and the carpenter gets a lead that already contains the full list and which basis it was quoted on, before anyone has driven out to measure a doorway.
Why a wardrobe enquiry needs a different kind of quote
A handrail refresh and a built-in wardrobe are both "carpentry", but a single contact form treats them the same, and they are not. The small jobs need speed: an instant range telling a homeowner whether a short list is worth booking at all. The wardrobe needs qualification: a realistic starting figure that sets expectations on materials and finish before a carpenter spends an hour measuring an alcove for someone picturing a flat-pack price. Splitting the two inside one widget, quick jobs against a day rate, the wardrobe priced by width on its own, means every enquiry has already been sorted into the kind of job it is, and the firm quote that follows rarely surprises anyone.
