The demo prices a kitchen from the size, the cabinet quality and the worktop, the way most kitchen fitters do a first pass before ever measuring the room: a baseline for a flat-pack fitted kitchen, a higher baseline for rigid mid-range cabinetry, and a higher one again for premium in-frame joinery, each scaled up or down for a small eight-unit kitchen against a large run of sixteen units or more. A quartz or granite worktop is priced as an upgrade over laminate, and a rewire with new lighting, plumbing moved for a new layout, new floor covering, removal of the old kitchen and an appliances package are each priced as a line the homeowner can add or drop and watch the range move. None of these numbers is special: when we build a calculator for a real kitchen fitting firm, the rates, the tiers, the questions and the rules are all theirs, entered once and changed whenever they like.
The point is not the arithmetic, which is deliberately simple. It is that the homeowner gets an honest range in under a minute, and the fitter gets a lead that already contains the size, the quality tier, the worktop and the extras the customer wants. The conversation that follows starts from "when can we book your design appointment" rather than a cold "how much roughly".
Why a kitchen needs a price range before a design appointment
A design appointment is expensive for a kitchen fitter to run: an hour or more with a designer, a CAD layout, a printed quote, often for a homeowner who was only ever browsing at a third of the price the showroom sells. A quote calculator with size and quality tiers built in filters that out before the diary fills up, so the appointments that do get booked are with people who already know roughly what they are spending and are ready to talk units, not sticker shock. Everyone who books has effectively pre-qualified their own budget.
