The demo prices each job on a rate that reflects how most landscapers quote a first pass: a supply-and-fit rate per square metre for a new lawn, a wider per square metre range for a patio or for decking since both carry a sub-base, drainage and finish choices that swing the price, a rate per metre for raised sleeper beds, a rate per metre for a new fence run, and a small set of fixed bands for garden clearance because a skip-and-a-day job and a week of hired machinery are not usefully priced per square metre. Tick three or more jobs and a design and planning fee is added automatically, since a project that spans several trades on the same visit genuinely needs someone to plan how they fit together, and the note beside it is honest that the fee is typically waived against the job if the customer goes ahead. The rates themselves are illustrative but sanity-checked against published UK landscaping cost guides, and are cited in the calculator's own code comments for anyone who wants to check them. None of these numbers is special: when we build a calculator for a real landscaping firm, the rates, the bands, the questions and the rules are all theirs, entered once and changed whenever they like. AllEasyCalc's own free tools at /turf-calculator/ and /decking-calculator/ work out the materials a DIY gardener needs to buy; this widget answers a different question for a different visitor, what will it cost to have someone else design, supply and fit the whole project, and it is that visitor who becomes a lead.
The point is not the arithmetic, which is deliberately simple. It is that the homeowner gets an honest, itemised range in under a minute for exactly the combination of jobs they want, and the landscaper gets a lead that already contains every service, every rough size and the customer's expectations, before a single spade goes in the ground. The conversation that follows starts from "let's book a site visit" rather than "how much roughly for a garden".
Why letting the customer build their own wishlist works
A single "get a landscaping quote" contact form forces the visitor to describe a whole project in a text box and then wait, which is a lot to ask when they are not yet sure what the project even is. Composing it themselves, one switch at a time, does the opposite: it lets scope creep happen in the customer's own head, for free, before it happens on-site with a tradesperson standing in the garden. By the time they add a third or fourth job and see the design fee appear, they already understand why a multi-service project costs more than any one line on its own, and the number they are enquiring about is one they built rather than one they were told. That produces a better lead for the business, someone who has already priced in the full scope, and a smoother site visit, because the awkward part of the conversation, whether they can really afford everything on the list, has already happened quietly on their own screen.
