The demo prices a job from the work itself and the room size, the way most plasterers already do a first pass from a couple of photos sent over WhatsApp: a per-room range for a skim over sound existing plaster, a higher range for fresh boarding and skim since dot-and-dab or full boarding adds a day most homeowners don't picture, and a lower flat range for a ceiling on its own, since a ceiling has no corners, sockets or door linings to work around. Artex removal or an overskim to bury a textured ceiling is priced as its own per-room line, and coving is priced per metre fitted, so either can be added or dropped and the total moves with it. External render sits outside all of this on purpose: it is priced from wall area, substrate and finish rather than a per-room rate, so the widget names that honestly and points the homeowner straight to the enquiry form instead of guessing a number. None of these figures is special: when we build a calculator for a real plastering firm, the rates, the rooms, the extras and the rules are all theirs, entered once and changed whenever they like. AllEasyCalc's own free plaster calculator works out how many bags of Thistle a DIY job needs to buy; this widget answers a different question for a different visitor, what it costs to have someone else do the whole job, and it is that visitor who becomes a lead.
The point is not the arithmetic, which is deliberately simple. It is that the homeowner gets an honest range in under a minute instead of waiting for a reply to a text, and the plasterer gets a lead that already contains the job, the room size and any extras, before they have picked up their phone. The conversation that follows starts from "when can you start" rather than "how much roughly".
Why plasterers benefit from formalising the WhatsApp quote
Plastering is already a photo-quoted trade: most plasterers can look at a couple of pictures of a room and give a fair estimate without setting foot inside it, which is exactly why a contact form feels like a step backwards. It asks the visitor to describe a wall in a text box and wait for a reply that, in practice, they were always going to get by return message anyway. A calculator formalises that same instinct into something the homeowner can use at any hour: pick the job, size the room, tick the extras, see the number. It also protects the plasterer from the classic underquote, promising a wall skim over the phone and finding a hidden overskim job or a boarding-grade problem on arrival, because the extras that usually get missed in a rushed phone call are sitting right there as tick boxes before anyone books a slot.
